Today was the final day of the Swift Water Rescue Operations certification course. Gladwyne firefighters spend the day honing their skills in the Schuylkill River. Instructors from START Rescue watched over while Gladwyne firefighters practiced skills sets that included self rescue, team entry, throw lines, and two-point tether lines. The training was aggressive and physically demanding, but all those in attendance agreed that the effort was well worth it.
