Gladwyne Members were dispatched to assist our neighboring brothers two times in the past two days for building fires. The first was on Monday 9/14/2009 when we were dispatched to the 300 block of Penn Road to assist Narberth Fire Company along with Ardmore and Penn Wynne for a basement fire. Engine 24 responded as the FAST team and Air 24 responded as the cascade (fill air bottles). The fire was quickly extinguished and crews remained on scene for a little over an hour. Thank you to Conshohocken Fire Department for the response of Air 35 to supplement Air 24 while it is awaiting its new compressor motor.
Then on Tuesday Air 24 was dispatched to assist Ardmore for a roof fire at the Whole Foods Store on Lancaster Ave. Crews from Ardmore and Narberth again quickly extinguished the small roof fire that was started by workmen on the roof and Air 24 was returned as it was not needed. This was one of three calls for Gladwyne on Tuesday.
