On June 14, 2009 Gladwyne Fire Company received its Pennsylvania Water Rescue Team Accreditation through The Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission and the Pennsylvania Water Rescue Instructors Association. The purpose of this accreditation is to identify and recognize The Gladwyne Fire Company and its firefighters, whose accomplishments in training and education has met and exceeded nationally recognized standards in water rescue. An organization accredited as a Water Rescue Team is recognized to have demonstrated competency in the knowledge, skills and certifications required to perform at a particular level, and possess the necessary equipment in order to perform the level of rescue. Gladwyne Fire Company has over 15 firefighters that are certified in water rescue and have maintained this certification over the past 15 years. There are only 21 Pennsylvania emergency organizations accredited at one or more levels and Gladwyne Fire Company is proud to be one of the 21 accredited organizations.
This latest certification illustrates the high level of commitment, dedication and service that Gladwyne Firefighters provide to the communities through enhancing the health, safety and welfare of residents and visitors. Through the efforts and supervision of Assistant Chief Mike Schwarz the state inspection occurred over the weekend of June12-14, 2009 with the certification being awarded on June 14, 2009. Thanks Mike for handling the paperwork, equipment and inspection process.
Congratulations to all Gladwyne Firefighters on this latest achievement and certification!
