Shortly after 9am Gladwyne Firefighters assisted by the Merion Fire Company of Ardmore were dispatched to the Gladwyne Acme for a building fire. Upon arrival crews found an electrical fire in one of the freezer units in the back of the store. An alert employee extinguished the fire with a dry power extinguisher. Firefighters were on scene for just under an hour clearing the smoke and securing the electrical hazard. One employee was transported to the hospital with respiratory difficulty by Narberth Ambulance.
The Acme was back open for business within the hour.
