With the storms that hit the area on Thursday night much of Gladwyne was without power for most of the night. Gladwyne Firefighters were busy throughout the night responding to 8 calls for help between 7pm on Thursday night and 3am on Friday morning. Calls varied from wires on fire to fire alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, sprinkler system malfunctions and a vehicle rescue.
The vehicle rescue occured at Green Valley and Mt Pleasant Roads when a driver drove up on a stone wall and turned her car partially on its side. Gladwyne Firefighters responded along with Belmont Hills and Penn Wynne Fire Companies who are the Heavy Rescue units in the township. The vehicle was stabilized and the uninjured driver climbed out of the vehicle on her own and was evaluated by Narberth Ambulance who was also on scene.
