| Just before midnight, Gladwyne Fire Company was dispatched to the 900 block of Black Rock Road for a house fire. Initial reports indicated the family had climbed out a second floor window and were stuck on the roof.
Ladder 24 arrived on scene as cries for help were heard atop the home. Firefighter's Hayden, A.Culbertson, Newell, Watrous and Robb, along with Capt. Rose jumped into action. The crew raised ladders to the stranded father and two children, lowering them to safety, where they were transported to Bryn Mawr Hospital for evaluations.
Following the rescue, firefighters attacked the fire that had spread two floors of the home. The family's dog was also rescued during a secondary interior search. Firefighters from Ardmore and Bryn Mawr assisted in the controlling of the fire and extensive overhaul. Firefighters from Narberth also assisted at the scene as our FAST team (safety team for the interior firefighters).
Quint 39 (George Clay Fire Company) stood by in our Firehouse while we were busy fighting the fire and Radnor Fire Company stood by in Bryn Mawr Fire Company while they were helping us out.
The family has since been released from the hospital and recovering.
Thank you to all of our assisting companies for helping out! |
