Tonight just after 7pm, Gladwyne Firefighters were dispatched to the 500 Block of Scott Road for a house fire. The caller was reporting lots of smoke and fire. Upon arrival of Chief 24 reported there was fire showing from the roof of a single family house that was being renovated. There were several subjects who were working on the house running in the house with buckets of water attempting to put the fire out. After getting everybody out of the house, Chief 24 gave orders for Ladder 24 to take the driveway and ladder the roof and place a hose line in service inside the residence to extinguish the fire that was between the interior ceiling and the exterior roof. The fire was quickly extinguished and extensive overhaul was performed inside the house along with the roof area.
Special Thanks to Bryn Mawr, Ardmore & Narberth Fire Companies, Narberth Ambulance and Lower Merion Police who responded to assist us.
SAFETY NOTE: When your house is on fire get you and your family OUT of the house AND STAY OUT! Do not try and fight the fire yourself. There are many civilian injuries / deaths each year from civilians attempting to fight the fire.
