Tonight Members of the Company were educated on the Montgomery County Mobile Data Terminals (MDT) by Sean Petty and Dennis Orangers. Petty and Orangers are Deputy Directors of the Montgomery County Communications Center (which is were Gladwyne Firefighters are dispatched from). Ladder 24 was outfitted with a MDT last year through a grant and tonight the County activated our MDT after our training was finished. Ladder 24 is one of the very first pieces of Fire Apparatus in Montgomery County to be activated and we are excited about the information that we can receive on it. The MDT provides real time updates to the responding firefighters straight from the County CAD system, A map program with GPS following, Hydrant locations, and the ability to communicate with the dispatch center without talking on the radio! We will be installing a second MDT into the new Engine 24 when it arrives.
