| We've been busy this week!
Wednesday afternoon the bells sounded to assist Bryn Mawr Fire Company on a dwelling in the Villanova section of Radnor Township. The mansion style home was consumed with flames and our crews, along with a dozen other departments, were put into service. The smoke, which could be seen from miles away, was thick and hot. Engine 24 supplied water and had nearly 1,400ft of hose stretched in efforts to stop the fire. Air 24 was also on scene for the 7-hour fire filling 75 air bottles! Many news stations covered the fire and video/photos can be seen below.
After a night's sleep, the tones sounded again in Gladwyne, this time assisting Ardmore Fire Company on a house fire in the Haverford section of Lower Merion. This fire was contained to the homes attic. Gladwyne firefighters helped with the fire attack, and were assigned roof work where they cut holes to ventilate the billowing smoke. Crews were in service about 2 hours.
After a busy 48 hours, everyone is home resting - and safe! Waiting for the bells to go off again! Big thanks to all OUR members for leaving work, home, and their families to help with these incidents. Also thanks to all the companies involved in both fires.
