Recently a few of Gladwyne firefighters decided to take on a task, and that task was to refurbish the wooden bench that sits outside on the front apron of the firehouse. The project was designed and headed up by Engineer Carmen Conicelli with the assistance of Firefighters George Hofstetter and Alan David as well as Joe Williams. The men took apart the bench piece-by-piece and installed new hardware and rods as well as new lumber to make the bench steadier and appealing. Fresh paint and lettering were added attractions to the bench. The bench now reads "Gladwyne Fire Company, Station 24." The newly refurbish bench now resides on the front apron between Ladder and Engine 24 bays facing Conshohocken State Road. The bench was placed in service today Monday October 10, 2011. Thank you to Engineer Conicelli, Firefighters Hofstetter and David as well as Joey Williams for your hard work and dedication on this project and to the Gladwyne Fire Company.
