Even Lucky, the firehouse dog, helps clean the trucks after a big rainstorm!

Heavy rains washed down much of our area this afternoon, but long before the storms came through Gladwyne Firefighters were hard at work. As members woke this morning the tones quickly sounded for an assist of, Ardmore Station 25 and Bryn Mawr Station 23, on a basement fire in the Haverford section. While on location crews found a sump-pump on fire behind the basement walls. Crews made quick work of extinguishing the fire and cleared within an hour.
Little did the guys at the firehouse know that wasn't the only fire of the day. At 16:00 when the rain was at its heaviest crews were returning from a water rescue, that thankfully was a false alarm, when the alarm sounded again! This time to assist Radnor Station 15 on another house fire, this one following a lightning strike to the home. Responding as the RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) they worked along with Radnor and Berwyn Fire Companies and returned home safely.
To wrap up the day (thus far, the day isn't over as this is written), Gladwyne was hit out for a fire alarm on Crosby Brown Road in Gladwyne. After a check of the home, it was filed as an accident.
Easy to say that Gladwyne firefighters will be sleeping pretty well tonight!
