| Shortly before 3pm, Gladwyne Firefighters were dispatched to assist Station 23 (Bryn Mawr) along with Engine 25-1 (Ardmore), Ladder 26 (Narberth) and RIT 21 (Penn Wynne) for a house fire in Bryn Mawr. Upon arrival of FM 34-1 (Waters), he reported heavy smoke coming from the house with heavy fire in the garage and to proceed with the Lower Merion Working Fire Dispatch.
Engine 24 responded immediately with 6 firefighters and arrived on scene and laid a 5 inch supply line from the hydrant to supply Ladder 23 in the driveway of the house.
Engine 24’s crew was assigned to pull an additional line and to access the fire from the 2nd floor above the garage.
Engine 24, Ladder 24 and Engine 24-1 operated in the 2nd and 3rd floor extinguishing fire and opening up the ceilings and walls checking for any lingering fire.
Crews were on scene until just before 6pm.
Thank you to Plymouth Fire Company No. 1 (Montco 43)who stood by in Gladwyne with Ladder 43 while we were all extinguishing the fire in Bryn Mawr. Ladder 43 responded to 2 other calls for help along with other mutual aid companies that were covering up in the other Lower Merion Stations. |
