| Just after 5pm on New Years Eve, Gladwyne Firefighters along with Belmont Hills Fire Company, George Clay Firefighters and Narberth Ambulance were dispatched to the Eastbound Schuylkill Expressway for an accident with injuries and a vehicle fire.
Upon arrival of Chief 24 there was a well involved vehicle that was involved in an accident. All occupants were out of the vehicle and on the side of the highway. PSP and Narberth Ambulance were attending to the injured.
Squad 39 and and Engine 24 arrived and deployed hose lines to extinguish the fire. Due to the positioning of the accident scene the Eastbound lanes were closed down while our first responders were putting out the fire and attending to the injured.
Rescue 22 came upon a 2nd accident on the highway while responding to this incident. Once they cleared, they joined Squad 39 and Engine 24’s crews to assist in getting the highway back open.
All units were clear of the scene in just under one hour.
THANK YOU to all of our First Responders that are out serving the public on New Years Eve and every other day of the year.
If you are interested, we are always looking for more Volunteer Firefighters. Stop by the station to discuss our volunteer opportunities.
Have a safe night and PLEASE do not drink and drive. |
