House Fire / Gas Meter Fire During Hurricane Sandy |

| In the Height of the Hurricane Gladwyne Firefighters were busy running from call to call handling emergencies of all types. That was until all of our resources were required on Mill Creek Road where a Primary Electric line fell to the ground causing a large fire on the street. To make matters worse the electrical fire caused a gas line running in the street to catch on fire, which ultimately set the gas meter on the side of a house on fire. Firefighters worked hard for four hours to keep the fire from entering the house while we waited for the extremely busy PECO gas and electric representatives to shut down the electric and gas so that we could put the fire out in the street and the house. The hard work of the firefighters paid off, as the house was saved and only suffered damage to the exterior of the house along with a window the burned up by the gas meter. Your Gladwyne firefighters worked hard in the pouring rain and high winds to save a house in our village, please be sure to THANK THEM for a job well done.... |
