Today proved to be a busy day in the Village. Gladwyne Firefighters responded to 4 emergencies. The first call of the day was a CO Alarm which was an accidental alarm, no fire department services were required. The second and most serious call of the day was a call to assist Narberth Ambulance in the woods between the Rolling Hill Park and the Old Barkers Mill. This plot of woods is over 103 acres of heavy wooded area and small walking paths. The ambulance was dispatched out to the area for a subject that was injured while walking the trails. With the assistance of Lower Merion Police the EMS crew located the patient after an extensive search. Gladwyne was dispatched to assist in carrying out the victim through the heavy woods and trails. Gladwyne Firefighters walked down through the woods with flashlights and the stokes basket, finally arriving to assist the ambulance crew. The patient was loaded into the stokes basket and carried down the trail to the Old Barkers Mill which was nothing but a solid sheet of ice. The patient was then loaded into Utility 24 and driven out to Mill Creek Road were the transfer to the ambulance was made. The patient was transported to Lankenau Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Gladwyne Firefighters were in service for just over an hour. While returning to the firehouse we were dispatched to the third call a fire alarm on Conshohocken State Road and finally two hours later we were alerted to the fourth call of the day, another fire alarm.
