June 24, 2017

Gladwyne Firefighters have been busy as ever! We have responded to 7 calls in the last 24 hours including a house fire assist with Bryn Mawr Fire Company. Late last night we responded to a fire alarm in the Hermitage, then early this morning we were dispatched to the Expressway 2 times to assist the Ambulance for motor vehicle accidents with injuries. This afternoon we responded to a fire alarm on Glenmore Road. Several of our members then went out on the boats to do some water rescue training and while they were cleaning up from that we were dispatched to Carisbrooke Road in Bryn Mawr to assist Station 23 (Bryn Mawr) with a house fire. Upon arrival of Engine 24 with a crew of 6 they assisted Bryn Mawr Firefighters with placing hand lines in service to extinguish the fire, opened up the roof and Engine 24 laid the supply line back to the fire hydrant. The Lower Merion Township Working Fire Dispatch was sounded, bringing firefighters from Penn Wynne, Belmont Hills, Ardmore, Narberth and Union of Bala Cynwyd to assist the Bryn Mawr and Gladwyne Firefighters. Our Firefighters remained on scene for several hours battling the fire.

While our Gladwyne Firefighters were fighting the fire, our friends from the George Clay Fire Company in West Conshohocken staffed our firehouse with one of their engines so that our Village remained protected. While they were standing by, they handled another fire alarm on Monk Road, and upon our firefighters returning to the station, another fire alarm was dispatched on Maplehill Road. Ladder 24 and Squad 39-1 (George Clay) responded and handled the alarm system.
