April 27, 2013
Shortly before 0600 hours this morning Gladwyne Firefighters were dispatched to assist Bryn Mawr Fire Company on a large Brush Fire inside the Hermitage Properties of Gladwyne. Upon arrival, Lower Merion Police and Bryn Mawr Fire Company discovered the fire to actually be in Gladwyne Fire Company's primary district. Bryn Mawr immediately started extinguishing the fire and firefighter's from Gladwyne assisted. Both companies worked together as a team to put out the fire and clean up all of the equipment in order to get ready for what turned out to be a busy day.
The next three calls for Gladwyne came in prior to 12 noon for a Carbon Monoxide Alarm, and two accident with injury calls on the Expressway. One of the accidents on the expressway required a Medical Helicopter response which the Gladwyne Firefighters assisted in securing the landing zone and controlling traffic on the highway. Even though four calls in one day is rare for Gladwyne Firefighters.....we were not done yet! Another accident with injury call on the expressway occurred just before midnight.
THANK YOU to our dedicated Volunteer Firefighters for spending so much time helping others on Saturday.
