Wednesday's wild weather gave Gladwyne firefighters a busy Thursday morning.

At 07:03am Station 24 was dispatched to a fire alarm on Gingko Lane. While en route, county dispatchers advised that they have a second call for Gladwyne - a possible house fire - on the 1000 block of Norsam Road. AC24-1 (Schwarz) told all units responding to Gingko to divert to Norsam due to the priority, he would check the alarm on Gingko.

As Engine 24 arrived on Norsam, they were met with heavy smoke on the first and second floors. AC24-3 (McLean) established Norsam Road command. Incoming crews began to investigate the source of the smoke and ventilated the smoke. A downed wire, which had cut off power to the home during the night, was checked to be the factor. Units were made available after an hour of work.

While clearing the scene, Gladwyne was dispatched to a third call, a brush fire on Youngsford Road. Engine 24-1 was first on scene, securing the scene from yet another downed wire that had lit a tree on fire.

TRAFFIC ALERT: due to the downed wires Conshohocken State Road is CLOSED FROM HENRY LANE TO NORSAM ROAD.
